His death has plunged the county and the nation into mourning, with leaders and citizens together commemorate his commitment to public service and leadership.

President William Ruto He praised the late Senator as a continuing and tireless public servant in charge of change in Baringo County.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi also expressed his congratulations, referring to Senator Cheptumo as a leader who served with unparalleled hard work.

“The Kenyan Senate has lost a leader who firmly believed in resolution and used every opportunity to continue his work and the well -being of Kenyans,” Kingi said.

Senator Cheptumo was highly respected for his passion for public service and regional development advocacy.

What message did Senator Cheptumo write before death?

The day before his departure, on February 14, he published a message to support the resolution leader Raila Odinga Prior to the election of the African Union Commission (AUC).

In his message, Cheptumo referred to Raila as the most qualified candidate as chairman, praising his Pan-Africa vision and dedicated to continental development.

“Raila Odinga is undoubtedly the best candidate for the Chairman of the African Union.

“His unlimited Pan-African attitude shows him as a politician with the African brave to find a developmental African. His victory will be victory for Kenya and Africa in general. I wish you all the best of the father. He wrote.

Did Raila win the AUC chair?

Despite these good wishes, Raila failed in the AUC election with Djibouti Foreign Minister Mahamoud Youssouf.

Raila withdrew from the sixth round after Youssouf maintained his leadership. In the seventh round, Youssouf received 33 votes from the heads of African countries, and got his position as the next chairman of the AUC.

The loss signified an important time in continental politics, but Raila's campaign was widely praised for his vision and decision.

In another sad case, a Nairobi mother has been detained in connection with the murder of her four -year -old son.

Initially, the woman claimed the baby died in sleep and took her body to the mortuary of Mama Lucy Hospital before turning off her phone.
