What? How did MMU students respond to Ruto's message?

The commotion started when ICT Cabinet secretary Margaret Ndung'u stood up to deliver her speech to the graduates during the ceremony on Friday, November 29.

Ndung'u, the chief guest at the graduation ceremony, began his speech by conveying President William Ruto's greetings to the students.

He also delivered the president's greetings to the graduates, which raised concerns that led to boos, jeers, and signs of opposition.

“Receive greetings from Dr. William Ruto. I am sure you all know that he loves you very much and has your interests at heart,” Ndung'u said.

The exercise increased as Ndung'u assured the students that the government is striving to fulfill its promises.

“You're lying. We don't want to hear that story,” some graduates said.

As he struggled to convey Ruto's message, the students began to sing in unison, “Ruto must go,” to oppose the president.

“Ruto must go! Ruto must go!” graduates said.

The crowd fell silent when the Minister stopped talking about Ruto and asked the graduates to be responsible and accountable.

Embu residents shame Ruto

This is not the first time that Ruto has faced rejection by the people.

He had a brief experience of discomfort when a large part of his audience at a church event disagreed with some of his remarks in Embu.

The President joined others on Saturday, November 16, to witness the coronation of Bishop Peter Kimani in the Catholic Diocese of Embu.

While stressing the importance of the affordable housing program and the establishment of SHIF, Ruto faced opposition from the public, who mocked him for refusing.
