Court of Eldoret has authorized the police to detain four suspects including the wife of former athlete Samson Kandie for 14 days in relation to his murder.

The suspects have been identified as Rose Rotich (Kandie's wife), Jamlick Morogit, Kelvin Were, and Felix Murambi.
Why are the suspects of Kandie's murder detained for more days?
The long detention is intended to give the police time to complete their investigation and gather important evidence
Kandie was found murdered earlier this month at her home in Elgon View Estate, County Uasin Gishu.

During court proceedings, the investigating officer requested additional time, saying that more witness statements needed to be gathered.
The officer also emphasized the need to conduct mental health evaluations for suspects.

Chief Justice Peter Ireri who presided over the case approved the request and ordered the four suspects to remain in custody at the Langas Police Station in Eldoret.
The court scheduled November 7, 2024, for the case to be mentioned.
“Time is of the essence for a thorough investigation, and we will use it to ensure we gather all the evidence we need,” the investigating officer said.
This murder case continues to attract the attention of the public as detectives strive to bring those involved to justice.
How did Kandie die?
Unknown assailants attacked Kandie on Thursday, October 3, at Elgon View Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Kandie's daughter, Vienna Kandie, said that their mother called the athlete around 7:30 pm, and said she was on her way home.
He added that when they tried to call the athlete around 9:00 in the afternoon. that same day, a strange man answered and told them to look for Kandie behind the toilet on their property.
When they went there, they found Kandie tied up and brutally beaten. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
