The newspaper reported that sacked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua failed to appear at the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Tuesday, where he had been invited to record a statement about the alleged assassination attempt.
Instead, Gachagua was in court for the whole day, closely following the proceedings of the case against the Government before the bench of three judges of the Supreme Court, where he is actively fighting for his removal as the country's second in command. .
Meanwhile, at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, several police officers and two water cannons were stationed near the main entrance to deal with any disturbances that may have arisen from Gachagua's expected visit.

2. The Standard
The publication reported that following the dismissal of Gachagua, some MPs especially from Mount Kenya find themselves trapped in fear and unable to visit their constituencies due to public outrage.
Before his ouster, Gachagua had built a strong following by portraying himself as a victim, championing things like “one man, one vote, one shilling” and the fight against illegal alcohol.
Now, many of the leaders who voted to impeach him admit they cannot face their constituents, hoping the anger will subside. Gachagua's loyal supporters see his impeachment as a deliberate attempt to weaken their political influence at the national level.
“Many of us, especially those who supported the removal of Gachagua, are going through a difficult time. It is the same as being imprisoned, we cannot walk freely. When we visit friends, we use small unrecognizable cars to avoid being seen by our voters, for fear of being booed or dressed,” one member of parliament admitted.

Another MP added: “Our political advisers have warned us not to stop our interaction on the ground because the people do not want to hear from us. We were expecting a Deputy President who would take over from the large area of Mount Kenya West to calm the situation, but our hopes have been dashed.”
Some fear their relationship with the public will deteriorate completely, especially if Gachagua is saved by the court.
“We put our hope in the court. If Gachagua is removed, the public can get closure, and we can continue our work. But if he is saved, we will perish,” One representative of Women said.
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba said his colleagues have become “prisoners of fear” because they did not consider public sentiment before supporting Gachagua's removal.
